Emmett won Guadalupe Parish running race competition for elementary school boys

On the first day of the 4-day Guadalupe Parish Festival there was a parade, athletic competitions, cultural dancing and a music (and of course, you could buy produce, chickens and quail).    Emmett represented his school in a 3 km running race.   He competed against other boys from schools in the Guadalupe Parish.   He won the race in dramatic fashion.   There was a large crowd and lots of cheering.   Emmett crossed the finish line with his chest first but another boy came from behind and grabbed the tape with his hand.   Controversy ensued with Emmett's buddies rallying to support him and other spectators supporting the other boy.    After some discussion, the official clearly agreed with universally accepted  track rules that a runner's chest must cross the finish line to complete the race.   Emmett clearly won and led the entire race.    He ran a strong race and I am proud of him.    On Monday there was a ceremony for award recipients which included speeches, music and food.
the race started in the center of town
